ROMANTIC PARIS

Sightseeing / Dining
The world's most romantic capital is a melting-pot of famous historic sights, fabulous food, wonderful art museums and enough shopping to last a lifetime - especially if you lose control of your credit cards!

Paris is also compact enough to walk around, while the Metro is as simple as the MTR and a trip along the Seine by boat takes in a lot of sights.
< Sightseeing >
On the Right Bank you'll find a lot of the famous tourist attractions: the Champs-Elysees for overpriced restaurants, the Louvre for the Mona Lisa, Musee d'Orsay for the Impressionists, the bohemian district of Montmartre for alive artists and the incredibly lively Georges Pompidou arts centre, which is the most visited sight in Paris.

The Left Bank is home to St-Germain, the ultra-chic designer shopping paradise, and the Eiffel Tower. In between on the Ile de la Cite is the world-famous Notre Dame.

The cemetary du Pere Lachaise is famous for celebrity tombs -- from Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Seurat to Edith Piaf, Isadora Duncan and the most visited of all, The Doors singer Jim Morrison.

For a day-trip, it's possible to combine EuroDisney and the Chateau de Versailles, the grandest and most famous palace in France.

You should always be alert to pickpockets and it's worth remembering that most museums and shops are closed on France's public holidays, especially 14 July which commemorates the French Revolution - although celebrations compensate.

Don't be surprised by rude waiters and surly shop assistants, especially at designer-heaven along Avenue Montaigne - Paris is famous for them.

Food is another ultimate Paris experience so forget your diet. Dalloyau is a temple to pastry; Les Caves Auge is the oldest wine shop in Paris.

Don't miss cafe society at such famous haunts as Le Parc aux Cerfs, Cafe de Flore and Cafe Beaubourg. Le Tambour is a late-night drinking forum and Harry's Bar is renowned for Dry Martini.

You're spoilt for choice over superb dining, but Au Petit Marguery is famed for seasonal game and foie gras, wine lovers flock to Le Bistrot du Sommelier, and La Cagouille is fabulous for seafood.
